Oak Garden
Oak Gardens Veterans Housing is a 62-unit, 52,128-square-foot affordable housing development built on a 2.137-acre site at the Menlo Park VA campus. Constructed using Type V-A wood framing, the three-story building includes a mix of 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom units, plus two on-site manager units.
The project was delivered on an active federal medical campus, requiring tight coordination with VA infrastructure and operations. Designed to meet LEED Gold, the all-electric building includes centralized hot water, high-performance insulation, and a photovoltaic-ready roof.
Sitework preserved mature heritage trees and added five landscaped outdoor spaces, including a walking path, dog run, and community garden. Ground-floor amenities feature a double-height lobby, VA case management offices, and MidPen resident services. On-site parking, bike storage, and proximity to Caltrain and SamTrans support multi-modal access.
