Balboa Reservoir
Building A
Balboa Reservoir Building A is a six-story, Type I-B affordable housing development located within the larger Balboa Reservoir Neighborhood Plan. Designed to serve families, the project will deliver 159 high-quality residential units in a fully sprinklered structure, built to current NFPA 13 and California Fire Code standards.
The building includes 68 vehicular parking spaces—30 designated for public use—and secure parking for a minimum of 115 bicycles, supporting the City’s goals for sustainable, transit-oriented development. Its ground-level design features walk-up residential stoops and community spaces, promoting a vibrant and pedestrian-friendly streetscape.
Located along Lee Avenue, the project is positioned at a key entry point to the neighborhood and reflects this prominence through its massing and architectural materials. The building rises six stories along Lee Avenue, South Street, and Brighton Paseo, with a stepped-down five-story elevation at the southern edge adjacent to SFPUC open space.
Balboa Reservoir Building A is classified under Occupancy Groups R-2, S-2, and A-3, and exemplifies a technically sound, community-forward approach to affordable housing construction in San Francisco.
